Once a medical device moves into the prototype, verification, or approval phase, casual contacts and general research are no longer enough. What matters now are direct lines of communication and partners who share the same\u2014or even greater\u2014technical expertise. Over 4,000 decision-makers and project managers met with 267 exhibitors across the value chain. For us, the real benefit lay in direct access to development partners, suppliers, and specialists who can advance a product technically.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

We noticed that too at our spot on the joint booth with MedicalMountains! Several people we\u2019d spoken with returned to our booth on the second day\u2026 for another chat. On top of that, we made over 100 new or deeper connections over the three days. So much for the idea that trade shows aren\u2019t relevant anymore.<\/p>\n

Today, a medical device is rarely developed within a single organizational level. Requirements, mechanics, electronics, embedded software, EMC, risk management, verification, supply chain, and regulatory pathways are so closely intertwined that early coordination ultimately saves a lot of time.<\/em>

At the trade show, four main topics of discussion were on the table for us.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

1: Implementation in detail. As soon as a project moves beyond the conceptual phase, very specific questions arise regarding materials, housing, power supply, interfaces, manufacturability, and regulatory approval.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

2: System logic. Topics such as MBSE and embedded software<\/a> help identify dependencies early on and track changes effectively.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

3: Regulatory compliance<\/a>. Documentation and supporting evidence can slow down projects precisely when they come into play too late in the development process.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

4: Sustainability. The selection of materials, energy supply, disposal options, and regulatory compliance must be incorporated into the project plan at an earlier stage.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The trade show\u2019s supporting program explicitly highlighted sustainability and the circular economy as key topics for the future. This was complemented by a guided tour organized by the trade show company, focusing on sustainable solutions, AI, and regulatory issues. Our booth was also a stop on this guided tour. At the same time, the regulatory framework for more sustainable products is expanding across Europe. The EU Ecodesign Regulation has been in effect since July 2024. For mobile devices, the pressure surrounding battery issues is becoming even more concrete. For development teams, this means that material selection, power supply, disposal, documentation, and product architecture must be incorporated into the project plan even earlier. Live events make sense for us as soon as customers want to bring their product to life.<\/p>\n

Solutions just a few steps away. The trade show itself describes this setting as a quick journey through the entire value chain. External voices from the event\u2019s ecosystem confirm this same effect, citing orientation, concrete projects, a reality check, and robust partnerships.<\/p>\n

It is precisely because of the trade show that we remain true to our approach: Early discussions with the right partners save time. This allows you to gain momentum, as technical issues are resolved from the start. Development partners gain clarity because requirements become apparent sooner.<\/p>\n
