One platform for many tools<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>

The customer planned to convert its cordless tools to a battery platform. This also meant a radical technological leap. The idea was to create a universal electronic solution that could be integrated into a wide variety of devices. The reality at the start of the project: no existing software base, no defined development process, no existing BMS. Shortly after the start, the internal hardware developer also dropped out. How B&W saw the situation, on the other hand: no legacy issues, with maximum design freedom in the architecture, the software base, and the battery management system! The early realignment of the hardware opened up additional opportunities to consistently gear the system toward future topics.<\/p>\n

What followed was a complete technical overhaul.<\/p>\n

We developed a modular software architecture that combines BLDC motor control for load-dependent speed control, battery management, and platform-compatible structures. The technical infrastructure was developed in parallel: Git server, CI\/CD pipeline, unit testing, state machines. Today, the code is functional, robust, and well-structured, making it scalable and adaptable to different hardware variants from the ground up. Compatibility with the selected battery platform was ensured at every step.<\/p>\n

What started as a loose service relationship developed into a close development partnership. The foundation has been laid and will be further developed in follow-up projects.<\/p>\n
